It will not have escaped anyone's attention that the Korean Netflix series Squid Game was a hit! Korean culture has been gaining a foothold in the West for some time now. For example, director Bong Joon-Ho's thrilling thriller Parasite was the surprising Oscar winner of 2019 . Korean movie is hot!

What is behind this success and what road has the Korean film industry had to travel to get here? Together with CinemAsia Film Festival, we present Koreans Do It Better, a series exploring Squid Game's roots in Korean film history. Just like in this success series, in 9  episodes we tell a story about Korean culture, society and recent developments in the country. And let's especially see films (with introductions) by new Korean masters, such as Park Chan-Wook, Lee Chang-Dong and Bong Joon-Ho.
